 Santa Maria de la Concepción

 

 

- La iglesia parroquial de Santa María de la Concepción se construyó en el siglo XVIII, y de esa misma época data la figura de la virgen que se adora en su interior. Cuenta con una talla genovesa, El Cristio de la Columna, de gran valor artístico. También es el punto de finalización de "La Bajada de la Virgen de los Reyes", donde la imagen de la virgen descansa para más adelante comenzar su trayecto hacia los demás pueblos de la isla.

 

- Both the parish church of Santa María de la Concepción, and the sculpture of the capital Matron Virgin were built in XVIII century. Into the building you can find arts works like the Christ of the Column, a genoese art. It is also the final point of "La Bajada de la Virgen de los Reyes" where the image of the virgin going to stay resting a few days. Later, the virgin starts a travel to the rest of the towns. 

 

 Las Quinteras

 

 

- Valverde cuenta con un centro etnográfico, Las Quinteras, situado al norte del centro de la villa, donde podréis encontrar artículos típicos y tradicionales como ropa antigua de los habitantes o artesanías como cestas de mimbre. El centro tiene 4 salas, cada una dedicada a una actividad diferente: elaboración de textiles, herrería, carpintería y alfarería.

 

 

- Valverde has an ethnographic centre, Las Quinteras, situated in the south of the centre into the village, where you will find tipical and traditional articles like the old clothes of the inhabitants or crafts like wiker baskets. The centre has got 4 rooms, each one dedicated to a different activities: the making of textiles, blacksmithing, carpentry, and pottery.

 

Quesadillas

- Un poco al norte del centro de la villa se encuentra el centro de producción del dulce mas característico de la Isla de El Hierro, La Quesadilla Herreña. Esta se hace a partir del tradicional queso herreño, azucar, harina, huevos, canela y limón.

- A little north of the centre of the village we can find the production of the most caracteristic cake of the El Hierro island, La Quesadilla Herreña. It is made with the traditional island cheese, sugar, flour, eggs, canella and lemon.
